Easy Vegan Waffle Recipe with Strawberries
What makes waffles so perfect for breakfast? Is it their crispy-on-the-outside, but chewy-on-the-inside texture? What about the golden pockets begging to be filled with maple syrup? Whatever it is, this easy vegan waffle recipe is the answer to all your breakfast dreams! Best of all, I celebrated the season with local strawberries- a flawless combination!
Is it me, or are some of the best memories growing up tied to breakfast?
I’m not talking about cereal-inhaled-on-the-way-out-the-door before school, ohhh no. I’m talking about that nostalgic 90’s Saturday morning breakfast with cartoons!
Even after all these years, the only thing to change was swapping out cartoons for coffee.. Making my breakfast experience that much better! 😉
Speaking of awesome things for breakfast, a long-time favorite has been waffles. It’s something about those golden pockets of sunshine that make them so superior to pancakes!
Unfortunately, I have been missing out since I went vegan. What’s a vegan breakfast-lover to do!?
One Vegan Waffle Recipe to Rule Them All!
First, let’s get one thing straight. The perfect waffle recipe should be:
- Easy to make
- Easy to clean up
- Perfectly crispy on the outside
- Superbly chewy on the inside
- Ideal for freezing
Sound good? Recipes should be simple, I shouldn’t have to clean-up for two hours, and the waffles need to be perfect.
Perfection is a tough expectation to hold a recipe to, but these are waffles we’re talking about! We don’t have time for sub-par results!
Best of all, I can make a huge batch of these, pop them in the freezer, and reheat in a toaster!

Let’s Talk About Going Topless
Listen, going topless isn’t smart. Everything is exposed to the cold air, things get hard that aren’t supposed to, and it’s not very fun.
Wait.. you thought I was talking about your body!? Hell no! Be a nudist for all I care! I’m more concerned about your waffle experience, hehehe 😉
All joking aside, these waffles were born to be topped. (Aren’t all waffles?)
For these babes, I used:
- Organic Maple Syrup
- Organic Strawberries
- Hemp Seeds
Also, I experimented with using vanilla soymilk vs original and both are awesome! I am partial to sweeter waffles, so I loved the “Strawberry & Cream” realness it was giving me.
You can replicate this by adding an extra 1/2 – 1 Tablespoon of sugar and 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to original soymilk
Easy Vegan Waffle Recipe with Strawberries
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups plain soymilk vanilla works deliciously too, if you like sweeter waffles
- 1 teaspoon vinegar white or apple cider variety
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons organic sugar
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Start by whisking the milk and vinegar together in a small bowl. Set aside for a couple of minutes for a quick vegan "buttermilk"
- Go ahead and preheat waffle iron to medium-high and coat with oil/butter
- In a separate large bowl, add the rest of the ingredients and whisk until uniform
- Pour the "buttermilk" into the dry ingredients and mix until no large clumps remain
- Pour half of the batter into preheated waffle iron, close, and cook for 3-4 minutes (until golden brown)
- Remove from griddle, repeat for rest of batter, top, and enjoy!

Wondering How I Cook This Easy Vegan Waffle Recipe?
Lastly, I wanted to talk about this awesome Cuisinart 5-in-1 grill. You wouldn’t believe how often we use this thing.
Seriously sometimes 2-3 times a day!
We love it for sandwiches (my secret to these eye-gasmic grill lines), quesadillas, and veggies!
But, the real reason I got this was for the waffle iron plates.. A grill that cooks waffles, too!? Sign me up! I don’t have much room in the kitchen, so anything that saves me space is a winner. 👌
