First of all, these are hands-down my favorite scones I’ve ever made.
No joke!

How is that possible?
It’s all about the dough, baby!
I learned, through plenty of trial and error, that scone dough should be flaky and falling apart.. If that’s the kind of scone you’re looking for!
Furthermore, it’s almost a requirement for the butter to be solid. I’ve made scones with melted oil before and it results in a scone seriously lacking crumb.
What does this mean?
Your final product is going to be delightfully crunchy, but oh-so-soft on the inside. These apple scones are crumb central, baby!
