My Must-Have Vegan Kitchen Tools & Equipment

Going vegan can be one of the most overwhelming things you’ve ever done. Your eating habits are turned upside-down overnight, but luckily your cooking tools don’t have to change! Here’s my list of the must-have vegan kitchen tools and equipment for any healthy household!

Best vegan kitchen tools for every household

Now, before we dive into the list, I want to make something clear:

By no means do you have to have all of these vegan kitchen tools to be successful. Sure, they save time and energy, but these are not excuses to keep you from eating healthy. It has taken me years to acquire this many kitchen gadgets, and most I bought after I started food-blogging.

In short, don’t worry if you don’t have the fanciest equipment! People can make-due with what they have on-hand.

That being said, if you’re one of the people constantly claiming “I don’t have time to go vegan”, this post if for you! These gadgets are by no means necessary, but when you’re saving hours of prep time, it’s pretty important 😉

My Must-Have Vegan Kitchen Tools

1. High-Quality Toaster

This babe isn’t that $20 off-brand toaster you bought from Walmart. No-siree!

I was tired of my toasters self-destructing after a year of use and finally upgraded to this beast. And when I say “beast”, I mean it lovingly!

This toaster:

  • Kicks Ass
  • Toasts 4 (FOUR!) pieces of bread at once
  • Fights crime (not guaranteed)

Why do you need it?

Did you hear me? Four pieces of bread at once!

Any drawbacks?

The size makes it difficult for small spaces. If that’s a problem, get a high-quality 2-slice toaster instead!

2. Heavy-Duty Food Processor

Just like the toaster, this isn’t your average food processor.

“It’s just a food chopper, why would I need a fancy one?”

Well, Becky, I believe in quality, that’s why!

Just like my cheap-ass toasters, my food processor died after a year of use.

Tears were cried, and credit cards were swiped.

Luckily, the upgrade paid off exponentially! This babe is the best food processor I’ve ever used. It doesn’t get stuck as easily, and is able to power through almost anything I throw at it.

Why do you need it?

You’re tired of hand-dicing onions… I know it, you know it, we all know it.

Any drawbacks?

The price can make it a little intimidating to buy.

3. 5-in-One Panini Press, Griddle, Grill, and Waffle Maker

So, you’re staring at this (like I did) trying to figure out what the 5-in-one machine can’t do. It can’t clean itself, but that’s pretty much the limit!

This has been a lifesaver in our house. I use this for my:

  • Famous grilled cheeses (ohmygod, those grill lines!),
  • Quesadillas,
  • Sauteed veggies, and
  • Even waffles!

I seriously have never had such a versatile tool in the kitchen.. What more could a vegan ask for!?

(Heads Up: The waffle plates are sold separately!)

Why do you need it?

The real question is: Why don’t you need this!?

Any drawbacks?

Just the fact that I cant grill veggies and make waffles at the same time. Maybe I’m just living too far in the future 😉

4. Cheap Coffee Grinder

This is one of the few things on the list that I am going to advocate for cheapness.

The reason?

We only use this for grinding herbs and oats into a powder!

My tip: Don’t use this for coffee beans. The spinning blade heats the beans and makes the oils go rancid faster.

Why do you need it?

Oats, herbs, and flours, oh my!

Any drawbacks?

It’s horrible for grinding coffee beans.

5. Crock Pot

Now, Crock Pots aren’t the first thing people think of when they think of “vegan kitchen tools”, but hear me out!

I use the babe more than ever with my homemade granola recipe.

Yes, you can make granola in a slow-cooker. Yes, It’s insanely easy and amazing.

Other uses? The slow cooker is a vegan’s best friend!

Why do you need it?

Because you really enjoy setting something to cook in the morning and forgetting about it ’till dinner.

Any drawbacks?

Crock Pots are notoriously big. If you don’t use it often, it turns into a giant paperweight that fills an entire cabinet.

6. Air Popcorn Popper

“Really, Nick? A popcorn popper is an essential vegan kitchen tool?”

Have you ever had the munchies late at night with nothing around to eat?

Enter: Air Popcorn Popper!

Think about it:

  • No oil
  • No pan
  • Just an air-popper, popcorn kernels, and an outlet (and maybe a bowl if you’re feeling fancy)

What’s to beat!?

Why do you need it?

One word: munchies.

Any drawbacks?

I can’t hook this up directly into my mouth. I mean, I could, but the burns wouldn’t be worth it.

7. Kitchen-aid: The King of Vegan Kitchen Tools

So, hopefully we all know about Kitchen-Aids by now. They’re the MF’n beasts of the kitchen. My mom has had the same machine since I was born!

No joke!

But, what’s really amazing are the kitchen-aid attachments.. that’s where it gets interesting!

I vouch for the amazing-ness of the:

Who can say they’ve made their own pasta!? Me me me! (and it was orgasmic)

Don’t get me started on the ice-cream maker. I’m craving sweets right now, so I can’t even begin to think about the rich, creaminess that it blessed us with.

You know what? Screw it, just go look at the recipe yourself! I’m drooling just thinking about my homemade peach ice cream.

Why do you need it?

Again: Why don’t you need it!? This beast can do everything.

Any drawbacks?

This thing weighs a fucking ton. Not literally, but it might as well be.

8. You Knew It Would Be on the List: Vitamix

I’m probably the thousandth person to tell you to buy a Vitamix.

Look, I get it!

It’s an expensive piece of equipment. It’s an investment, for sure!

But, ask yourself:

  • Are you tired of your piece of shit blender?
  • Tired of having to stop the blending just to stir the smoothie?
  • Are you tired of throwing away blender after blender!?

I was, and that’s why we finally took the plunge and bought a Vitamix.

Oh. My. Good. God. Guys.

My life has never been the same. I legit cry happy tears every time I have a perfectly smooth smoothie (without having to stir!)

A couple of selling points that got me:

  • 10 year warranty!
  • You can legitimately blend a baby block into sawdust
  • You can seriously blend an avocado seed into a drink (I don’t know why you would want to, but it impressed me!)
  • Most importantly: You wash the machine by putting in a drop of dish soap and turning it on. Voila!

Why do you need it?

Soup, smoothies, nut butters, nut milks, and so, so, so much more.

Any drawbacks?

They aren’t given out for free to all new vegans.
